Terms and Conditions

Applies to Climbing Clinics and Meet Ups ONLY

Entry

By entering a Climbing Clinic, all entrants herby adhere to the terms and conditions set out below.

All entrants must be over the age of 18 on the day of the event.

Refunds and Transfers 

We cannot refund event fees if you cannot attend the event for any reason. However, we will transfer your place to a nominated rider of your choice, as long you have updated us by email no later than 5 days before the event.

To transfer your entry to another rider, please email us at ride@backpedal.cc with the details. 

Event Cancellation

Should the clinic be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances outside the control of us, or due to force of nature (natural and unavoidable catastrophes) Your entry fee will be deferred to the same event the following year.

Bikes and Equipment

We strongly recommend that you use a road or gravel bikes. 

Helmets are mandatory. No helmet, no ride. We will stop any rider caught riding without a helmet.

We recommend riding with a working rear light, although not essential. 

Please do not litter. 

Mechanical Support

It is your responsibility to make sure your bike and equipment is well maintained and suitable for the meet ups. Consider the fact this ride could take in multiple climbs over 15%. At some point, you will wish you had more gears. Tyres and brakes should be in excellent condition.

You must ensure that you carry enough basic tools or spares.
There will be van support which will sweep the course, which may be able to help you, but please note there is limited space inside said vehicle.

Accidents and emergencies

In the case of a serious accident, dial 999. Our Backpedal rider team are first aid trained. 

Entry Disclaimer

By entering into the climbing clinic, (the Event)  you, the "Participant" agree with Backpedal (the "Event Provider")  to the following:

You understand that you are participating in a cycling meet up, in an outdoor, open road environment. As such, each Participant understands that they should be in good health upon entering the event, with a level of fitness appropriate to the event requirements.

The Participant agrees that they will obey all traffic regulations and rules in place in the location of the Event, and understands that they will be riding on open roads with vehicles and traffic, and that there may be unavoidable obstacles on the roads, such as roadworks, loose surfaces and construction furniture on the roads at any time. In rare cases, road conditions may dictate that the planned event route needs to change. The Participant understands that planned routes may need to change, due to factors beyond the control of the Event Provider.

The Participant agrees that they will ride within their own physical limits at all times, and not endanger themselves or other Event Participants or the general public.

The Participant acknowledges to the Event Provider that the Participant does not have any physical limitations, medical ailments, or physical or mental disabilities that would limit or prevent the Participant from participating in the Event. If required, the Participant will obtain a medical examination and clearance.

The Participant releases and forever discharges the Event Provider, its owners, directors, officers, employees, agents, assigns, legal representatives, and successors from all manner of actions, causes of action, debts, accounts, bonds, contracts, claims, and demands for or by reason of any injury to person or property, including injury resulting in the death of the Participant, which has been or may be sustained as a consequence of the Participant's participation in the Event.
